Well, for all my Canadian girlies, no doubt you are also paying keen attention to the shifting federal election polls along with me tonight. Seriously, I have one eye on this blog post and the other eye on the polls! I’m moderately surprised that I have enough mental capacity to write this post right now, but here goes!
This evening, as a family, we were discussing how huge situations like now can seem in our human scope. Tonight especially, it feels as though Canada is tottering in the balances. Sadly, we understand just how far away our country has turned from its Creator and Saviour. The security that comes when a unified country is governed by those who have Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour and Guide is foreign to us. The blatant acceptance of that which is clearly set out as wrong in the Bible – fornication, abortion, adultery, divorce, and homosexuality makes me shudder. Do we as a country know where we are headed?
**Disclaimer: I am NOT insinuating that any one federal party can stop this freight train of “social progression” our country is experiencing. Our country cannot be saved by politics, only by the saving blood and mercy of God.
This brings me to the point of this blog post. Our physical lives can be so easily swayed and changed by the goings-on of this world. Men and women hundreds of thousands of miles from me can be currently determining countless factors that will forever change my adult life. This life is neither stable or secure. But I can have a confidence that transcends all else.
My life – my true, living, life that can never be quenched – does not depend on thousands of pieces of paper shoved into boxes across the country. My life is hidden in Christ. He is my confidence and my true point of reference. Humanity is frail; human governments are frail. My focus is on the Kingdom that cannot be shaken and my citizenship in that Place can never be taken!
Recently I heard these lyrics to a song and they have stuck with me ever since:
“I’m already living forever, so I’m gonna live a little Heaven on Earth.”
Never lose perspective, girls. Jesus is our priority, our confidence and our life.
“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. But of THAT day and hour knoweth no man, no not the angels of Heaven, but my Father only.” Matthew 24:35-36
